The Carp Lake

We are pleased to let you know that we have been taking advantage of the winter to do some more work on the lakes in order to upgrade our venue. On the carp lake, in the swims, you will find 8 unhooking mats to start the season right and of course 2 on the catfish lake, they look more like mattresses! And hopefully our stock of fish will get the chance to appreciate them, but this will be up to you, our guests.

The biomass of fish in the carp lake changes week by week as we move the catfish into the smaller of the two lakes, when caught of course, thus allowing many of the carp to put on as much as 7lb in weight per year, with the extra food and space available to them. Estimated carp stock at this time - 280 – probably The Double Linear will be over 70lb this comming spring, 2 at 60lb+, 10 at 50lb+, between 30 and 40 at 40lb+ and very few doubles. The rest of the stock in the big lake is made up of upper 20’s and 30’s.

Many of the swims, where needed, have been re-gravelled and any overhead branches and bank side vegetation that impairs casting have been removed for your convenience and the safety of our fish. Still 14 swims available to fish with a maximum of 8 anglers trying to outwit these wild creatures.

We can sit back and look at the carp lake and see our work for more than  8 years now. The result is pleasing to the eye, it developed into a mature water with plenty of features and vegetation. We do hope that you will enjoy fishing our venue and do not forget at the end of every rainbow there is a pot of gold!
